Lacunae of significance- empty realms and nowhere zones- implications of suggested vacancy, emptiness and blankness. Whilst my practice has been informed by work that inhabits the void conceptually, (particularly within the territory of Relational Aesthetics and participatory practice) I am becoming increasingly interested in the physical spaces that exist between people and the artworks they are encountering. These are indeterminate realms of considerably varied dimensions- dependant on individual experiential and cognitive values of the art-viewing encounter; the work; and, the ethos of the location or institution in which the work is situated. My work focuses on playful interventional gestures that strive to breach this peripheral realm of uncertainty through more immersive, sensual and situational experiences.
There is nothing more fragile, fresh, familiar, alien, challenging, unpredictable, imponderable and relevant than the movement of people and their interaction with space, objects and each other.
