Lowri is an artist based in Manchester. She makes performances, interventions, books and objects with a variety of people in all sorts of places. Her work draws upon her background in visual art, experience in performance and commitment to social engagement.
Lowri is interested in human experience, the mundane and the miraculous. She strips information away to the barest truths. Lowri is fascinated by the blurring of art and real life and creates autobiographical work that attempts to connect with others in imaginative and meaningful ways. She has a recognisable and original heartfelt and handwritten aesthetic.
Over the last few years she has worked with National Theatre of Scotland, Tate Liverpool, Cornerhouse, Contact Theatre, Hatch, Islington Mill, hÅb, The Lowry, Quarantine, David Hoyle, Small Things, Weeding Cane, Salford University and Grupo XIX de Teatro. She is one third of girl band Hotpants Romance, who have released two albums and toured the world and one fifth of female performance collective Eggs Collective. She is currently creating a performance at Casa do Povo, Sao Paulo about Rosa Luxemburg. |
Lowri is supported by The Future. The Future is an artist-centred development collective, which focuses on the growth and development of early career artists in the North West.
